Barabai, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Batang Alai dam in Labuhan Village, Central Hulu Sungai (HST), will be designed as a tourist attraction.
"We have budgeted the funds from Rp500 million to Rp1 billion," said Head of Hall of River Kalimantan 2 Dwi Poerwantoro in the soft launching of utilization of Batang Alai irrigation network in Tanah Habang village on Wednesday (18/4).
So, he remarked, in addition to the irrigation tract that is used to irrigate agriculture for some subdistricts, it can also be used for recreation.
"We will start construction in May 2018 and in Eid al-Adha holidays will be enjoyed by Bumi Murakata (HST's nickname) residents," he said.
While the management will be handed over to the local government and it will be supported by a variety of entertainment facilities, such as children's playground and others.
Batang Alai dam has been built since 2006 and its progress has reached 70 percent. By the end of 2018, it is targeted to be completed.
Dwi added if the construction is 100 percent the agency will as minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) to officially inaugurate it because the funding of the 5,000 ha Batang Alai dam project is sourced from the state budget (APBN).
HST Acting Regent H A Chairansyah expressed very supporting and appreciate the effort to make the dam become a tourist attraction.
"The road to the village of Labuhan also been good and easily passed by people using 2 and 4 wheels, so it is very supportive for transportation facilities to the location," he said.
But more importantly, he said, irrigation can be quickly utilized by the community in irrigating their agricultural land.
