Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - A man was reported missing after allegedly being attacked by a crocodile when fishing in Manunggul River, Manunggul Lama Village, Sungai Durian Sub-district, Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan, Sunday afternoon.
The victim, which is known with the initial SM (32), is a resident of Legai village, Batu Sopang Sub-district, Paser District, East Kalimantan.
Sungai Durian Chief of Police Iptu Tri Wibawa in Kotabaru, Monday, said based on witness statements the victim was fishing on a boat.
Then, he went down to the water to remove fishing hook stuck on the riverbed.

"But after removing fishing hook, the victim was allegedly attacked by a crocodile when he was about to return to the boat and dragged to the bottom of the river," said Tri.
Seeing the incident, Tri told, local residents immediately reported it to the Sungai Durian Police.
Sungai Durian Police personnel together with residents then conducted a search by combing the river using wood boats.
Until 23.00 Wita on Sunday, officers and residents had not found the victim. Tri said the search effort would be continued.
"The latest situation will be reported further by the police," he said.
Regarding this incident, the Sungai Durian Chief of Police appealed to residents to always be alert when fishing in the river or on the riverbank considering the frequent occurance of victim of crocodile ferocity.
