Kotabaru District Government supported free cataract surgery organized by PT Arutmin North Pulau Laut (NPLCT) Kotabaru as a form of concern for public health, especially those with visual impairments.
Expert Staff Johanuddin said the district government highly appreciated PT Arutmin and all related parties in helping to reduce cataract sufferers in Kotabaru, especially in underprivileged community.
Social service that directly touch community like this should continue to present in the community, not only from PT Arutmin but also followed by other companies in Kotabaru.
“I suggest residents, especially patients who uderwent cataract surgery today, to always apply a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise and maintain nutritional intake for the body, so that after surgery you can be more productive and have an impact on improving the welfare of th entire Kotabaru community,” he said.
Maintenance Superintendent of PT Arutmin Indonesia NPLCT Hendri Sagita said this social service is a routine agenda every year to reach more people who need eye health services.
“This is a form of our concern for public health, especially in effort to reduce the number of blindness due to cataract in this area,” he said.
The community enthusiastically welcomed this free service. One of patients, Aspa (69), acknowledged to be very helped for having been long had visual impairment but did not have money for treatment.
The cataract surgery was held on May 13-14, 2025 at PT Arutmin NPLCT kotabaru clinic in cooperation with professional medical team and kotabaru government.
A total 68 patients treated were from three areas, namely 11 patients from Batulicin site, 24 patients from Senakin site, and 33 patients from NPLCT Kotabaru.
