Pelaihari, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Floods have inundated hundreds of houses of villagers in three sub-districts in Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan, Monday (Jan 11, 2021).
The villages that flooded were Kurau, Kali Besar, and Handil Nagara in Kurau Sub-district.
Bumi Harapan Village in Bumi Makmur Sub-district was also swamped, then Banua Raya Village, and Gunung Raja Village in Bati-Bati Sub-district.
Chief of Kali Besar Village Syarifuddin said about 277 family heads (KK) in his village in Kurau were affected by the flood.
"From our monitoring in the field, five neighborhood units (RTs) are affected by the flood that occurred since yesterday," said Syarifuddin, Monday.
According to him, the flood that swamped villagers' houses caused their house appliances were submerged, including harvested rice put in sacks.
"We advise our residents to evacuate, but they do not want because of reasons of protecting their properties," he said.

Separately, Chief of Bumi Harapan Village Riduan Syahrani said that approximately 200 families were affected by the flood.
"There five RTs that are worst hit by the flood, their houses are submerged," he said.
Meanwhile, one of Kurau village residents, Tamjid said that the flood has been two days submerged his house. "In the last two days the water has been getting higher and submerging people's houses," said the resident of RT 01, Kurau Village.
He said government assistance is really expected, especially rubber boats, foodstuff, and health assistance.
