Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - South Kalimantan is getting ready to hold two international agendas, Tour de Loksado and Floating Market Cultural Festival in Geopark Meratus which is recognized as global geopark by UNESCO (UGGp).
“Tour de Loksado to be held on July 11-13 in Hulu Sungai Selatan and floating market festival in Banjarmasin on August 21-24. These two destinations are part of Meratus Geopark among more than 50 sites,” said Head of South Kalimantan Tourism Office M Syarifuddin here on Tuesday.

Syarifuddin hopes the 2025 Tour de Loksado's participants will be greater than in 2024 which was participated by about 15 provinces, especially since the location has been designated as UGGp.
Many national and international participants are predicted to attend this year's event, considering July calender does not have many national activities in various provinces.
He underlined that sites in the Meratus Geopark are indeed worth visiting, both for tourism, research, and other activities. Especially in the two locations where the two international agendas will be held.
“The status of Meratus Geopark as UGGp will be officially received by us and the Governor of South Kalimantan in France on June 2, 2025,” said Syarifuddin.
Therefore, he continued, this is a good momentum to hold the two international agendas as part to further introduce South Kalimantan to the world.
For Tour de Loksado, cyclists from various regions will start from 0 Kilometer Banjarmasin to explore some points of the Meratus Geopark sites and to finish in Loksado.
Meanwhile, the Floating Market Cultural Festival to be centered in Banjarmasin to introduce the city as the City of a Thousand Rivers, local wisdom, shopping on floating market, and other destinations.
