Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reported South Kalimantan economy grew 5,19 percent in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the same period the previous year (year-on-year).
“South Kalimantan's economic growth in Q3 2025 reached 5.19 percent (y-on-y). 15 out of 17 sector businesses grew positively,” said Head of South Kalimantan BPS Mukhamad Mukhanif, when contacted here on Thursday (November 6, 2025).
He expounded that business sectors with the highest growth were educational services (9.54 percent), manufacturing industry (8.94 percent), and information and communication (8.89 percent).
However, two business sectors: financial services and insurance and mining and quarrying, experienced contraction in the third quarter.

The agency recorded that the structure of South Kalimantan's Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB or GRDP) at current prices is still dominated by mining and quarrying at 27.12 percent, followed by agriculture, forestry, and fisheries (13.90 percent), and manufacturing industry (11.31 percent).
“The contribution of the three sectors to the South Kalimantan's economy reached 52.33 percent,” said Mukhanif.
In term of source of economic growth (y-on-y), manufacturing sector contributed the highest at 1,05 percent, followed by wholesale and retail, car and motorcycle repair (0.74 percent), and agriculture, forestry, and fisheries (0.68 percent).

On quarterly basis (quarter-to-quarter), South Kalimantan's economy in Q3 2025 grew 3.22 percent compared to Q2 2025.
Twelve of 17 business sectors grew positively with the highest rate in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries 10.42 percent, construction (7.52 percent), and health services and social activities (4.80 percent).
“On q-to-q basis, the highest source of growth came from agriculture, forestry and fisheries; mining and quarrying; and construction,” Mukhanif explained.
Cumulatively from Q1 to Q3 2025 compared to the same period previous year (cumulative-to-cumulative/c-to-c), South Kalimatan's economy grew 5.14 percent.

16 business sectors recorded positive growth, with the highest rates in manufacturing (8.92 percent), transportation and warehousing (8.66 percent), and other services (8.62 percent).
In term of expenditure, the highest growth occurred in Government Consumption Expenditure (PKP) components, which grew 6.86 percent, followed by Gross Fixed Capital Formation (PMTB) and Household Consumption Expenditure (PK-RT) that grew 6.28 percent and 5.06 percent.
