Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The District Government of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indonesian Ombudsman to improve the quality of public services.
The district's Regional Secretary Eka Saprudin stated that this commitment was made as a form of strategic cooperation to improve the quality of public services.
“On behalf of the Kotabaru Regent, I convey that this represents the regional government's commitment in improving the quality of public services,” he said in Jakarta, Tuesday.
In addition to Kotabaru government, the Ombudsman also signed MoU with the Governor of South Kalimantan, and 12 districts and cities in the province.
Ombudsman and Kotabaru government will mutually support and contribute to policy development, evaluation, monitoring and improving the quality of public service delivery within the district government of Kotabaru.
"As stated by the Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman, this year there will be changes to the assessment. If there are opinions submitted, we hope Kotabaru will be among those with positive opinions," he said.
Regardless of this signing, he emphasized that the regional government's function remains to provide the best service to the public.
"We shouldn't wait until a complaint is received before we act on it, and we hope to detect public complaints early," he explained.
The scope of cooperation between the Kotabaru government and the Ombudsman includes accelerating the handling and solution of public reports/complaints, preventing maladministration, implementing programs to improve the quality of public services, exchanging data and/or information, and activities agreed upon by the parties.
