Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The District Government of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, is committed to rectify the quality of public services as it inked a Memorandum of Undestanding (MoU) with the Indonesian Ombudsman.
Kotabaru Regent H Muhammad Rusli stated that this MoU serves as evidence of the district government's commitment to strengthening public service delivery.
“We are committed to following up every public complaint in a professional and measured manner. This collaboration with Ombudsman is an important step toward improving the quality of publice services in Kotabaru,” he said here as reported on Thursday.
This collaboration is a strategic step in strengthening oversight system while improving the quality of public services in the region, in line with the vision of clean, responsive, and community-oriened governance.

The MoU emphasizes synergy between Kotabaru government and Ombudsman in promoting transparent, accountable, and public satisfaction oriented governance.
Currently, the Kotabaru government is preparing an evaluation of the 2024 Accountability Report (LKPJ) as a basis for development directio for 2025–2029, including the integration of transparency and accountabily principles into the new regional medium-term development planning (RPJMD).
Their cooperation targeting four main focuses for improving public services:
1. Improving service standards and quality by modernizing administrative process to minimize bureaucratic red tape.
2. Preventing maladministration and the Anti-Maladministration Village program as a flagship innovation. As of June 2025, 18 villages in Kotabaru had achieved this status.
3. Strengthening oversight and complaint system.
4. Increasing capacity of technical guidance and training for staff to support professional service delivery, including digital transformation.

Regional Secretary Eka Saprudin emphasized that collaboration with Ombudsman demonstrates the district government's openness to external superintendence.
“We are ready to cooperate to advance Kotabaru through improved public services,” he said.
