Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Kotabaru government's Legal Section disseminated Regional Regulation Number 10 of 2025 concerning Facilitation of Intellectual Property Protection.
The Kotabaru Regional Secretary H Eka Saprudin said the dissemination aims to provide understanding to regional officials, creative economic actors, academics, and the general public about the protection of intellectual works and ideas so as not to be easily copied or claimed by other.
"The intellectual property is the results of creativity and innovation that has high economic, social and cultural value, and deserves adequate legal protection," he said in Kotabaru, Wednesday.

Through dissemination it is hoped that all participants fully understand the subtance of the regulation and be able to implement it in their respective duties.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Law (Kemenkum) for South Kalimantan Office handed over seven intellectual property certificates to the Kotabaru government as a token of appreciation for the region's commitment to protecting local works.
Resource person M Aji Rifani expounded the importance of strengthening the identity of local products so that they are not easily claimed by outside parties.

“Intellectual property must be protected because it represents a region's identity and economic potential. Many examples of incidents where a region's superior products were claimed by other parties simply because they did not have a legal umbrella,” he said.
He cited the unique cultural potential of Bajo Tribe in Kotabaru has the potential to become a regional intellectual property asset. Local products such as Tirawan palm sugar and other specific food, crafts and traditional cloth motifs need to be registered immediately to gain a market value and be legally protected.
Through the Regional Regulation No. 10 of 2025, the Kotabaru government hopes to create a sustainable innovation ecosystem, encouraging the emergence of new creative economy actors, and to provide legal certainty to owners of local works and innovations.
