Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The District Government of Kotabaru as a host along with the South Kalimantan Indonesian Teachers' Association (PGRI) held a night of hospitality in celebration of PGRI's 80th anniversary and 2025 National Teachers’ Day (HGN).
The Kotabaru Assistant III for General Administration Selamat Riyadi welcomed all PGRI boards from various districts and cities in South Kalimantan.
"Teachers play a major role in human resources development in Kotabaru," he said here.
He stated that PGRI is a struggle organization founded shortly after the independence of Indonesia.

The government of Kotabaru greatly appreciate the extraordinary collaboration between the provincial, district and city PGRI and Education Office as shown by this successful gathering.
He expounded the geographical ccondition of Kotabaru composed of islands and remote areas, and many teachers work in areas with limited access.
The local government, he said, keep striving to provide incentive and special attention to teachers serving in remote areas.
Chairman of South Kalimantan PGRI H. Abdul Rivai appreciated Kotabaru's readiness to host. He said this year's PGRI celebration has a special meaning held in the district not in the provincial capital as usual.

“This is the first time in the last 10 years that a major PGRI event held in the district and Kotabaru is the first to submit to host. We greatly appreciate the spirit of togetherness and solidarity demonstrated," he said.
He made a point of improving teacher professionalism and protecting their rights. "PGRI's 80th anniversary shows the organization resilience in struggling for teacher dignity. We wouldn't be here without the services of our teacher,” he added.
Various activities marked the 80th anniversary of PGRI and National Teacher's Day in South Kalimantan, including Leadership Education and Training for boards of PGRI throughout South Kalimantan, a fun walk in the Siring Laut Kotabaru attraction, a night of hospitalitiy, and the culmination celebration.
The PGRI administrators of the provincial, district/city, and sub-district levels, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, school principals, all teachers in Kotabaru, as well as members of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) and regional government agencies (SKPD) attended the event.
