Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Health Service of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan Province, educated Sebelimbingan Village residents in Pulau Laut Utara Sub-district about the danger and prevention efforts from dengue fever (DBD).
"This education is carried out so that residents understand and be aware of the disease," said Secretary of Kotabaru Health Office Arya Nor Abdi here on Tuesday.
The counseling, he said, aims to suppress dengue fever cases and to cut off the breeding of mosquito larvae that caused dengue fever transmission in the village and Kotabaru in general.
He urged people to be alert of the threat of dengue fever which caused by Aedes Aegypti mosquito bite that lurk during the rainy season.

He said preventing dengue fever should be done togehter in the surrounding environment by Eradicating Mosquito Nest (PSN) or usually called 3M Plus, namely by draining various objects that can hold water, covering water containers, recycling various item so they do not become a breeding ground for Aedes aegyptis which carry dengue virus to human.
3M plus includes planting plants that can ward off mosquitoes, checking water containers, keeping fish that eat mosquito larvae, using mosquito repellent, installing wire mesh on windows and ventilation in the house.
Working together to clean environment, put used clothes in closed containers, give larvacide to water containers that are difficult to drain and repairing channels and gutters that are not running smoothly.
Arya said his office has conducted mosquiot fogging in several places after going through epidemiological checks.
Head of Sebelimbingan Village Akhmad Zainuri hopes the education about dengue fever to increase the knowledge of the community so that no one is affected by dengue fever.
"Hopefully those who take part in the counseling can share their knowledge and insight from the education to relatives and other residents about dengue fever," saidZainuri.
