Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - General Manager of PT PLN (Persero) Main Distribution Unit of South and Central Kalimantan (UID Kalselteng) Iwan Soelistijono said that village electricity program in the two provinces has been realized 98 percent.
"The village electricity program is targeted to be 100 percen realized in 2027," he said when visiting South Kalimantan Bureau of Antara News Agency in Banjarmasin, Wednesday (June 18, 2025).
He said the geographical challange of this region is the remote village, such as in the mountains, which is quite challanging for the program to achieve the target of 100 percent.
"One of the challanges is the reach of electricity to villages, some of which are in the mountains. If it is not possible to use the network, we can use a new renewable energy system, such as solar power," he said.

Village electricity program in South and Central Kalimantan has covered 3,587 villages.
Iwan said that village electricity program is a form of state's present to provide equal electricity services for the entire people.
"With maximum steps and efforts, we are optimistic that 100 percent target can be achieved," he pointed out.
The current availability of electricity in South and Central Kalimantan, he said, is in safe condition with large electricity reserves.
"We still have 200 MW of electricity reserve, this can serve new customers," he explained.
Iwan, who has just been appointed as GM of PLN South and Central Kalimantan, feels that Kalimantan region has challanges, because it is not like Java.
"The challange is in the area, in Java the distance between settlements is not far, but here it can be very far, entering the forest and scattered in the mountains," he said.
