Rantau, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Government of Tapin District, South Kalimantan, received the second place award as a District Care for Human Rights in Indonesia in 2022 from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham).
Acting Regent of Tapin Syarifuddin received the award from Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly at the commemoration of World Human Right Day in Jakarta, Sunday (Dec 10, 2023). He said this added the achievements that Tapin had curved into history.
"This proves the fulfillment of civil and political rights, as well as economic, social, and culture rights, the assessment of which was measured based on structure, process, and results indicators," he said in Rantau, Tuesday.
He said that the district government of Tapin will consistently striving for programs that pay attention to human rights in the region so that people's rights are fully fulfilled.
"The Tapin District Government will consistently continue and committed to uphold human rights in every public service," he stressed.
Syarifuddin said Tapin received a Human Rights Care District score of 93.5 with an action score of more than 80 in 2022, meaning there were no human rights violation that were not followed up by the district government.
"This results brought Tapin to be the second best nationally, and the first best in South Kalimantan. Similar awards were also received during 2019-2020," he said.
Through this media, Syarifuddin expressed his thanks to all SKPDs (government agencies) involved in this prestigious award achieved by Tapin, the only region receiving it in South Kalimantan.
Minister Yasonna Laoly in his remarks said the human rights commemoration is a momentum to reflect on human rights principles and to recall the journey of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
"One important thing to take note, promoting harmony in diversity means fighting discrimination, prejudice, intolerance, and inequality," he said.
