Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarmasin faces drinking water crisis for 12 hours on Wednesday (1/6), due to pipeline reparation by the city taps water company (PDAM) Bandarmasih.
"We are forced to stop total water distribution to customers on Wednesday (1/6), because there are seven water distribution points to be fixed," said Assets Senior Manager and Managing of PDAM Bandarmasih M Ahdiat here on Monday.
According to him, in addition to fix distribution pipes, there is also repairment on the PDAM's electrical system booster in order it able to operate optimally in Ramadan.
Impact on the activities of these repairment is water distribution in East and South Banjarmasin will be totally dead.
"But in other areas there is still a small portion can flow, such as in North, West, and Central Banjarmasin, also partly in the Banjar district," he said anyway.
PDAM is targeting implementation of the repairments could be completed within 12 hours or from 09:00 until 21:00. Normally for the suburbs it will take about 24 hours.
"This is the longest time we are targeting, so it is not certain either 12 hours or 24 hours for the suburbs will experience a crisis of water a day," he said.
He hoped, customers can store water prior to the termination of the distribution for such improvements.
"We have asked for a more economical use of water later. We hope that customers can understand this, we also apologize," said Ahdiat again.
