Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Banjarmasin City's Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) is trying to overcome the blood supply crisis of group A and B by searching for donors in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We make a chain message in the social media, if there are donors just come right away to the Banjarmasin PMI's Blood Donation Unit (UDD) on Jalan S. Parman, across the Polda (Provincial Police), please immediately," said Head of Banjarmasin PMI's Blood Donation Unit (UDD) dr Aulia Ramadhan Supit here, Saturday.
He explained that the stock of the two blood groups was empty, so the agency is searching to find for donors.
On that day, he said, the provincial government-owned Ulin Regional Hospital needs the group A and B. "25 bags of group A blood and 25 bags of B group needed today July 25, 2020. Please help," said dr Rama, his nickname.
He acknowledged that since the COVID-19 pandemic, people's interest in donating blood began to sag.
"Blood donation events are now limited, as we know all must apply health protocol so as not to get infected with the coronavirus," he said.
He admitted that to stock at least 100 bags of blood a day is now difficult to meet.
"At most 25 to 50 people who donate a day, even though we need for a minimum of 100 bags of blood per day," he said.
