Amuntai, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The District Government of Hulu Sungai Utara (HSU), South Kalimantan, collaborates with Directore General of Land and Irrigagation of the Ministry of Agriculture to improve agriculture sector in this area.
HSU Regent Sahrujani accompanied acting Director General of Land and Irrigation Husnain when reviewing Polder Alabio in Sungai Pandan Sub-district. They both discussed irrigation system strengthening, land optimization and opportunities for printing new rice fields that can encourage food production in the district.
"We hope this real support from the Ministry of Agriculture can help accelerate optimization of irrigation network rehabilitation in HSU," he said in Sungai Pandan, Thursday.

The Regent said that the district government is collaborating with the Directorate General of Land and Irrigation in efforts to optimize Alabio Polder, an irrigation system that flows in HSU.
Meanwhile, the acting Director General Husnain said that HSU has a great potentil of agriculture, but is still constrained by limited supporting infrastructure.
"Therefore, collaboration between the central and regional government is expected to expedite the realization of sustainable irrigation program," he said.
In addition to visiting Alabio Polder, the entourage also visited agricultural land in Tambalang Kecil Village and Agriculture Extension Center in Sungai Sandung Village, Sungai Pandan.
Also attending were HSU Deputy Regent Hero Setiawan, HSU Regional Secretary Adi Lesmana, Asian Development Bank (ADB) Expert Wicher Boissevain, Head of the Kalimantan III River Basin Center (BWS) I Putu Purna Eddy Wijaya, HSU leadership communication forum (Forkopimda) and heads of related government agencies.
