Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - To handle the disaster mitigation in Banjarbaru quickly, accurately, and thoroughly, it needs synergistic and directed cooperation between parties, one and another, said Mayor Nadjmi Adhani.
He warned that the transition of phase of the season from dry to rainy like now prone to make Banjarbaru City hit by tornado, such as around the Sub-district of Landasan Ulin, and it must be anticipated.
"While to anticipate flood in rainy season, the city government has built six reservoirs in several urban villages to hold rain waters," he remarked at the disaster preparedness ceremony in the frame work of the National Disaster Preparedness Day 2019 at the Murjani Field attended by hundreds of participants from various elements, Monday (Nov 25, 2019).

The ceremony led by the mayor was a follow up to President Joko Widodo's directions during the 2019 Disaster Mitigation Coordination Meeting in Surabaya.
Through this disaster preparedness ceremony, he said, it was hoped that aparatus and communities would be prepared to face disasters that may occur beyond human expectation.

After the ceremony, the mayor symbolically handed over the new firefighter truck key to the Acting Head of Banjarbaru Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) head Surian Noor, as well as firing it water canon together with inivitations.
