Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - PT Laguna Mandiri (PT LMI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with four villages in Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, to support the government's special program, Facilitating Development of Community Gardens (FPKMS).
The four villages are Mangka in Pamukan Barat Sub-district, and Bepara, Sekayu Baru and Betung in Pamukan Utara Sub-district.
They inked the agreement at the meeting room of the Sungai Durian Area Controller Office, attended by the Head of West Pamukan Sub-district M Octo Brahma Yogayana, S.STP, Sungai Durian Area Controller, KSP Region – Metro Jaya, representatives of the Sub-district Office, the Sub-district Police (Polsek) and Sub-district Military Command (Koramil).
"This agreement is in accordance with the Minister of Agriculture Regulation No.18 of 2021 concerning FPKMS and is a realization of the company's commitment to build plasma plantation. It will improving the economy and we hope that PT LMI's partnership with the community will continue to be better” said Area Controller of Sungai Durian, South Kalimantan Region, Pamukan, Metro Jaya , in Kotabaru as reported on Friday.
In addition to FPKMS program to be implemented through independent plasma plantation scheme, PT LMI also forged a partnership in the form of a 372 hectares one-stop management plasma plantation.

Moving ahead, PT LMI's FPKMS program is planned to continue expanding by partnering with three other villages. They are Bakau and Balaimea in Pamukan Utara Sub-district, and Rantau Buda in Sungai Durian Sub-district, Kotabaru.
Pamukan Barat Sub-district Head M Octo Brahma Yogayana said this is something that the communities of these four villages have been waiting for.
"After this, the process of identifying potential land and participants will be submitted to the regional government of Kotabaru, to be continued with discussion on the FPKMS program scheme which will be outlined in partnership agreement," he said.

PT LMI is a subsidiary of Sime Darby Plantation Bhd, which later changed it name to SD Guthrie Bhd, Malaysia. Minamas Plantation Group is part of SD Guthrie Bhd.
The company was established in April 2001 and run in eight provinces in Indonesia, with a total area of approximately 234,000 hectares.
At least 190,000 hectares of this area have been planted with oil palm, representing about 77 of the total area.
It has 61 plantations and 20 mills spread in Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi. Minamas Plantation has nearly 22,000 employees in Indonesia.
