He expounded that the study was based on research in collaboration between the provincial government and Lambung Mangkurat University's (ULM's) Faculty of Forestry regarding preparation of strategies and recommendations to deal with flooding in South Kalimantan.
"This research is expected to provide policy recommendations that the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan needs to take to overcome the problems of frequent flooding," he said.
Four researcher who involved, M Arief Anwar, Syam’ani, Annida, and Megayulia Nooryaneti, directly went to districts and cities in the province to collect related data to studies on overcoming floods.
The research, he said, learned from South Kalimantan's experience of being hit by severe floods in January 2021, but it happened again although in small scale.
"The floods had a quite big negative impact on the social and economy life of the communities affected by the disasters," said Hadi.
He said various efforts had been made to overcome floods in south Kalimantan, but flood disasters still occurred because the handlng was still partial and had not integrated from upstream to downstream.
