Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - The provincial government of South Kalimantan has prepared 57 free transportation vehicles for this year's Eid al-Fitr homebound (mudik) travelers for provincial inter-city destination on April 6-7, 2024.
Head of South Kalimantan Transportation Service M Fitri Hernadi in Banjarbaru, Wednesday, said that his side has prepared the transportation fleet to the maximum for "Free homecoming travel with Governor H Sahbirin Noor 2024" program.
In accordance with the Governor's instruction, he said, the preparation and implementation of free mudik travel is in collaboration with Organda (Land Transport Organization).
"Including Damri Bus," he said.
Currently, M Fitri said, Damri is preparing two buses to support the free mudik which is targeted to involve 1,000 travelers.

The government also readies tens of its own buses.
"The total is currently 57 transport units ready to operate," he pointed out.
M Fitri also said that ramp check and other things are also carried out for transport readiness.
Peole who want to take part in this free mudik can register via link of mudik gratis bersama Paman Birin 2024 (free homecoming with Uncle Birin or Governor 2024).
Just like last year, M Fitri explained, the gathering points of free mudik is in Banjarmasin City and anjarbaru City. While the destinations are cities or districts in South Kalimantan province with the furthest points being Tanjung and Kotabaru.
"Of course this activity aims to help people gather with their families in their hometowns for Eid this year," said M Fitri.
