Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - While the adaptation to new normal is ongoing, the Internasional Airport of Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin enjoys a growing number of passengers by 77 percent during the period of June to July 2020.
The airport General Manager Amiruddin Florensius said both passengers arriving and departing had increased in June and July.
"Number of passengers increasing both passengers arriving and departing as many as 42,983 in June 2020 to 76.208 in the next month," said the new GM of Syamsudin Noor.
He said that the aircraft movements also increased in the same period namely 894 movements in June 2020 to become 1,291 aircraft movements in July 2020.
On average, the number of passengers arriving and departing in June 2020 was 1,433 passengers per day and increasing in July 2020 by 2,458 passengers per day.
"The number of passengers in August 2020 also increased and until Saturday (August 15, 2020) it reached 3,371 passengers per day," he said.
Positive data can also be seen from the cargo movements which was recorded 1,963,623 kg in July 2020 or grew 5 percent. When compared to the same period of the previous year the growth of cargo of June 2019 to June 2020 was 46 percent.
The increase was from 1,278,666 kg to 1,863,555 kg. While the increase of July 2019 to July 2020 recorded at 9 percent from1,806,685 kg to 1,963,623 kg.
He said, flight condition during the new normal were getting better. Thus the operating hours were adjusted at 07.30 WITA (Central Indonesia Time) to 17.00 WITA starting July 30 to Agustus 31, 2020.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, health protocol were applied in serving service users at the airport from the implementation of mandatory mask areas, maintaining distance, using personal protective equipment for airport officers, and checking body temperature.
The airport facilities are routinely cleaned and disinfected, especially those are frequently touched, and providing hand sanitizer at public areas.
Reducing contact between officers and passengers is done by presenting online screen customer service and independent boarding pass checking at the terminal building.
"We apply health protocol in our service in the airport area to prevent transmission of COVID-19. It is expected that all airport service users can carry out activities safely and comfortably," he said.
