Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - South Kalimantan Governor Muhidin ordered Education Offices to renovate school buildings and facilities no longer suitable for use or damaged to support learning process from elementary to high school levels.
“This is President Prabowo's order. Previously, regions were asked to budget for Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, then the policy was removed because MBG is borne by the central. But with condition, regions must maximize fund for school repairs,” said the Governor at the Development Planning Conference (Musrenbang) on 2024-2029 Regional Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMD) in Banjarbaru, Monday.
He commended the President's policy that removing the regional obligation to budget funds for MBG.

“I hve asked the relevant parties, head of provincial Education Office to record high schools and special schools (SLB), which schools have been damaged. For elementary and junior high schools the data is collected by district/city according to their authority,” he said.
The Governor stated that the local government will build and renovate damaged school buildings, while the land is prepared by the school.
Especially for this program, he said, a budget of around Rp700 billion has been prepared for the benefit of schools in every district and city.
He also instructed PUPR Office to immediately prepare a budget plan (RAB) to construct toilets and bathroom in schools.
In addition toilets to schools, Governor also asked related agencies to build public toilets (including bathrooms) at every distance 25-50 kilometers as facilities for general public, especially visitors from outside the region.
“Related agenciess should determine the party who can manage it, give it to the community. This is an additional facilities for the comfort of visitors so they do not have difficulty in sanitation,” said Governor Muhidin.
