He expressed his gratitude that the corn planted in the wetland could succeed.
This is the only one in Indonesia that corn can grow in wetland, the type of swamp land that is characteristic of land in the lowlands of South Kalimantan.
"In planting process, we are assisted by a team of agricultural experts and wetland experts from University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM). This is the result of a collaboration for the success of supporting food security program," said the Police Chief.
South Kalimantan Regional Police planted corn simultaneously through a million hectare corn planting led by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman on January 21, 2025.
For the initial stage, South Kalimantan Regional Police opened up 40 hectares of unused wetlands out of a total of 120 hectares of available land to support the national food self-sufficiency.
In the same location, a 10 hectares biofloc pond is planned to be built for snakehead fish (locally popular fish known as haruan) farming.
