Kandangan, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Tani Abadi farmers group have a first harvest of a gogo rice on a land of a former mining in Loktampang Hamlet, Malutu Village, Padang Batung Sub-district.
Regent South Hulu Sungai (HSS) H Achmad Fikry and DPRD's Commission II Chairman Syafriansyah also attended the fist harvest of the gogo rain-dependent rice crops, Tuesday (2/4) morning.
H Achmad Fikry remarked that the residents of the district should be grateful to have a different topography of agriculture. It gives a distinct advatage with a different period of harvest, while rice availability can be guaranteed at any time.
"Our vision and mission for the future is how to cultivate organic-based agriculture. The agricultural costs is cheaper, while the yield from organic farming systems are more guaranteed in terms of health, as they do not use chemicals in the processing," he pointed out.
The district government (pemkab) is currently trying to encourage farmers not to keep depending on chemical fertilizers, but insisting them to process their own independently, using animal manure or plant compost.
Meanwhile, the government will help them to find market share, among which by instructing government employees to buy organic rice products every month.
The harvest then continued with a dialogue chaired by the Syafriansyah. The regents and ranks responded and accommodated all aspirations and problems raised by the community.
