Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office of South Kalimantan Herawanto, Deputy Mayor of Banjarbaru Dharmawan Jaya and related officials of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government conducted the first harvest of chili and catfish in the Bumi Tangi Sustainable Food House (RPL) in Banjarbaru, Thursday (12/20) .
"This RPL is managed by Bank Indonesia outsourcing employees and today we harvest the first one-hectare chili and harvest catfish in five tarpaulin pools," said Herawanto.
According to him, the RPL program does not merely utilize land sleeping in the yard around the house but empowers land owned by agencies or corporations by cultivating vegetables, fish, and livestock which are needed for daily consumption.
Through the program, he explained, productive land is more optimized by planting with agricultural commodities, both vegetables, and fisheries.
For fish farming, he said, his party chose catfish, because it can be a substitute for fresh fish contributing to inflation, such as snakehead fish.
Deputy Mayor Dharmawan Jaya congratulated on the successful cultivation of chili and catfish.
"Banjarbaru also feels lucky because so far our RPL is only limited to land for farming, the purpose is food security because there are medicinal plants, vegetables, livestock, and fisheries," he said.arianto
