Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - Five Kalimantan provinces are preparing to offer investment partnerships for 15 strategic projects to investors from 12 countries at the Pamor Borneo 2025 event in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Kalsel), from August 21-24, 2025.
"South Kalimantan will be attractive, because the vast Meratus Geopark, which spans the province, has been recognized internationally after being designated a Global Geopark by UNESCO. The investment climate will certainly be attractive to global investors," Head of the Bank Indonesia of South Kalimantan Representative Office, Fadjar Majardi, said during a Media Talk (BBM) in Banjarmasin on Tuesday evening (August 19, 2025).
In his presentation at the media meeting, Majardi, accompanied by an expert economist from BI South Kalimantan, the Head of the BI South Kalimantan Division, and the Head of the BI South Kalimantan Team, briefed dozens of media outlets on the Pamor Borneo event's readiness to welcome investors from various countries to invest in Kalimantan.
He stated that 15 projects across Kalimantan will be offered to investors at a session titled "Borneo Business and Investment Forum 2025."
Some of these projects, in South Kalimantan, include a Waste Management System, a medical hazardous waste treatment system using a two-stage incinerator with a capacity of three tons per day, equipped with an emission control system to minimize pollution, located at the Banjarbakula Integrated Landfill (TPAS Terpadu) in Banjarbaru.
Furthermore, there are the construction and operation of a hazardous waste management facility, a hydroelectric power plant in Kusan, Tanah Bumbu District, and the construction of a hygienic chicken slaughterhouse with low-temperature storage to maintain product quality and safety through to distribution.
Meanwhile, in Central Kalimantan Province, projects offered include the Palangkaraya City Ecotourism and the Vaname Shrimp Cultivation Center in Sungai Raja Village, Jelai Sub-district, Sukamara District. The shrimp cultivation center produces various innovative, high-value derivative products, such as chitosan from shrimp shells for cosmetics, shrimp meal for animal feed and organic fertilizer, as well as other value-added processed products.
West Kalimantan Province offers a bauxite downstreaming project in the Ketapang Industrial Estate, processing Smelter Grade Alumina (SGA) into aluminum billets, alloys, and slabs with a capacity of 500,000 tons per year to meet high domestic aluminum demand, particularly for the development of the Indonesian Capital City (IKN).
In East Kalimantan Province, there are projects such as a waste management system in Balikpapan, chemical-based palm oil derivatives in the Maloy Batuta Trans-Kalimantan Special Economic Zone in East Kutai, and a palm oil downstream industry.
Furthermore, the oleochemical industry project in Bontang utilizes palm oil as the primary raw material to produce fatty acids and glycerin. With a production capacity of 91.2 tons per year, this project is expected to meet growing global demand while adding value to the potential of local palm oil plantations.
North Kalimantan Province's key projects are the Type B Hospital construction in Tanjung Selor, Bulungan, utilizing a strategic location on five hectares of land to provide more comprehensive and faster healthcare services for approximately 168,000 residents, complementing the current availability of only one Type C hospital; and the fish feed industry and the development of the Bebatu Port in Tanah Tidung Regency.
Majardi announced that 15 projects in Kalimantan are ready to be offered to investors from 12 countries at the upcoming Pamor Borneo event. The preparations have been done ahead of the event by his office along with the regional governments.
"We have publicized these 15 projects internationally. We even have a network through Bank Indonesia overseas, including assistance from embassies and other stakeholders," Fadjar said.
The Pamor Borneo event in Kalimantan is an annual initiative to support national economic resilience with three major missions on the international stage: trade, investment, and tourism.
