Barabai, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent of Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST), South Kalimantan, Samsul Rizal lobbied the Ministry of Public Works (PU) to submit four strategic infrastructure projects proposal for the district.
“Alhamdulillah I was received by Public Works Minister Ir Dody Hanggodo to convey various matters and the condition of HST,” said Regent Samsul Rizal when contacted from Barabai, Hulu Sungai Tengah, Thursday (May 1, 2025).
The Regent in his visit described the condition of the district and proposed assistance, such as the need to complete the secondary channel of Batang Alai Dam, completion of regulation pond, polder development in Labuan Amas Utara (LAU) and Pandawan Sub-districts, and the need to build Pancur Hanau Dam.
The Regent said, the regulation pond in Mandingin Village is only 50 percent complete so it needs completion and required assistance form the PU Ministry.
HST government also proposed Pancur Hanau Dam, which will also function as irrigation and flood prevention.

"The proposal for Pancur Hanau is indeed quite difficult because it need a very large budget. However, the Minister was optimistc that it can be conducted," he said.
In their discussin, PU Ministry was committed to support development in HST as it was expressed by Minister Ir Dody Hanggodo.
"Of the four proposals submitted to the Public Works Minister, (two) have the potential to be worked on in 2026 are completion of regulation pond and secondary channel of Batang Alai Dam," he said.
In addition to PU Minister, Regent Samsul Rizal also met the Ministry's Director of Water Resources (SDA) Ir Lilik Retno Cahyadiningsih, and Director General of Housing and Settlement Areas Ir Fitria.
Regent Samsul Rizal asked for the support and prayers from the people of HST so that efforts by HST government are facilitated and smoothed for the better regional development.
