Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - A member of South Kalimantan DPRD's Commission III for Development and Infrastructure H Hasanuddin Murad SH expected that the Kusan Dam in Tanah Bumbu (Tanbu) District to be included in the National Strategic Project (PSN).
The expectation and proposal were conveyed when Commission III consulted with the Directorate General of Water Resources of the Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry in Jakarta, last week.
"Especially that South Kalimantan and Tanbu are not too far from and in the future will buffer the food need of the prospective state capital in East Kalimantan," said the former member of the House of Representative from Golkar Party.
Thus it is necessary to accelerate the construction of the Kusan Dam, among others by including it in the PSN, said the legislator from the electoral district of Barito Kuala (Batola).
The tidal agriculture area of Batola along with Banjar District are rice barn for South Kalimantan, which now has a population of more than four million people spread across 13 districts and cities.
The Commission III delegation was led by its chairman H Sahrujani. They were received by the Head of Sub-directorate of Dam and Lake Ir Martius Tangyung MT.
