Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Banjarmasin has achieved MURI record after its vertical garden, considered the most in quantity compared to anywhere in Indonesia.
"This award should be appreciated because our efforts have obtained a separate assessment from MURI," said Mayor Ibnu Sina in Banjarmasin, Friday.
To reporters on the sidelines of the review of vertical garden location on Jalan S Parman, Ibnu Sina said the award is expected to be a trigger for Banjarmasin to do more for the environment.
In addition, the involvement of Anak Bangsa Foundation, which participates in the Banjarmasin city environment, is expected to lure other parties to do the same.
"The more parties involved in maintaining the environment, this city is expected to be more beautiful, cool, shady, and lovely," he said.
He himself has been assessing the involvement of the community to green the city has seen, with the emergence of many communities who care about the environment.
In Banjarmasin, there are Green Community Forum (FKH), River-CareCommunity, and Antique Bike Community, all of which enable the organization to support the government to keep the environment clean and beautiful.
Moreover, Banjarmasin has a motto "Baiman" (Barasih wan Nyaman means clean and comfortable) so it requires such participation because the government can not possibly do it itself.
Head of Environment Agency Drs Mukhyar said vertical gardens have been developed since 2015. Now the city government has planted about 30 thousands of plants to gain the MURI's record.
The MURI's record charter was handed over to Mayor Ibnu Sina by the envoy of Jaya Suprana from Semarang.
