Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk through its subsidiary PT Tri Buana Mas Tbk, which is the largest palm oil plantation company in South Kalimantan, sent thousands of Cavendish bananas to participate in the commemoration of 2018 World Food Day (HPS).
Community Development Area Manager (CDAM) of PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk B4 area South Kalimantan Jaenuddin in Banjarbaru Monday (15/10) said the Cavendish bananas is also to break the record of the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) in the health sector.
"Cavendish bananas were picked directly from the special plantation of PT Tri Buana Mas in the North Candi Laras, Tapin District, and handed over by PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk South Kalimantan to the South Kalimantan Plantation and Livestock Agency in Banjarbaru," he said over the telephone.
Efforts to achieve the MURI packed in the "Isi piring nasiku" (contents of my rice plate) program when pregnant women eat simultaneously to provide balanced nutrition. It will be involving thousands of pregnant women on Thursday (10/18).
Cavendish banana is a tropical fruit commodity that is very popular in the world. This banana in Indonesia known as the white Ambon banana, has a lot of nutrients, such as riboflavin, manganese, vitamin A, vitamin B6, niacin, fiber, protein, vitamin C, iron, potassium, folate, and magnesium.
Based on these various nutrients, Cavendish bananas can make the Fruitaholic body that consumes them healthier and prevents infectious and internal diseases.
Head of Plantation and Livestock Agency who also the HPS Committee Secretary Suparmi said she was very happy and welcomed the participation of PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk.
"Bananas are an important food staple with nutritional content an effort to fulfill food integrated with horticulture," she said.
The "isi piring nasiku" program will be followed by 2018 pregnant women held simultaneously starting at 08.00, both in Jejangkit and in Banjarbaru. It is also a step to prevent malnutrition in pregnant women in South Kalimantan.
