Rantau, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Tapin District Government in South Kalimantan has restocked 100 thousand of local fish seeds in Barito River tributary in Candi Laras Selatan Sub-district for conservation.
Head of Tapin Fisheries Office Parianata said fish seeds for restocking suppied by Mandiangin Freshwater Cultivation Fisheries Center under the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
"The details are 25,000 Jelawat fish seeds, Kelabau 25,000, and Papuyu 50,000," he said here on Tuesday.

The restocking is needed, he said, to keep maintaining the sustainability of Kalimantan's typical fishg as its population decreases due to natural factors and consumption.
"This restocking is for conservation of local fish in Barito River tributary," he told saying this is the Fisheries Office's initiative since 2022 and has just been realized in 2024.
“We have spreaded the fish in two locations, in river in Baringin A Village and river in Muara Muning in Sungai Rutas Village,” he explained.
Parianata said that the restocking program for local fish wil continue to be inten sified every year by his office.
"Not only for the district level, this program will also involve the provincial until the central government," he said.
