Rantau, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Tapin Fisheries Agency in collaboration with the Social Agency has sown tens of thousands of fish seeds for the sake of community business in the famous Hiyung Village.
“25,000 fish seeds are distributed with details of 15,000 snakehead fish seeds and 10,000 climbing perch fish seeds,” said Head of Fisheries Agency Parianata, Monday.
The distribution of fish seeds was carried out at the economic center of the spiciest Hiyung bird's eye chili which is being built by the government of Tapin District.
Some fish ponds will be managed later by karang taruna (youth organization) of the local village in Tapin Tengah Sub-district.
“Snakehead fish ponds and climbing perch fish ponds will be managed directly by Karang Taruna Pudarta,” he said.
The swamp area was considered suitable for the cultivation of the two types of fish and it will become the pilot for the economic development in the district.
“After six to nine months, the Tapin regent will do the first harvest,” he said.
Tapin Regent HM Arifin Arpan wants fish cultivation to produce an increase in the community's economy and continue to be sustainable and develop well.
