Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Tabalong, South Kalimantan, Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Crops and Horticulture Office (DP2TPH) has recorded that 1,668 hectares rice fields in eight sub-districts have been affected by floods.
Head of Facilities of the DP2TPH Kurdiansyah here on Monday said that the most affected rice fields that were submerged by floods were in Kelua Sub-district reached 998 hectares.
While in the other sub-districts, Upau 297 hectares, Banua Lawas 148 hectares, Haruai 91 hectares, Muara Harus 52 hectares, Tanjung 50 hectares, Pugaan 16 hectares, and Tanta 15 hectares.

DP2TPH then conducted El Nino National Movement to address the situation by distributing 22 tons of rice seeds, which is enough for 880 hectares rice field in the Kelua, Banua Lawas and Pugaan sub-districts.
Then asssitance from the 2024 State Budget (APBN) in the form of biofortication 14.9 tons for an area of 596 hectares in Muara Uya, Haruai, Upau and Pugaan sub-districts.
Biofortication is a process of improving the quality of nutrient in food crops through plant breeding using organic fertilizer.
"25 kilograms for each of the four sub-districts with a total area of 596 hectares," Kurdiansyah said.
