Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - South Kalimantan Regional Secretary said based on data from the Indonesian Nutrition Status Study (SSGI), the South Kalimantan's stunting rate in 2021 was above the national average and ranked the 6th highest in Indonesia with 30 points.
“This cannot be underestimated, we must not slowdown efforts to prevent and stem stunting,” he said when representing the governor to officially opened the socialization of the Indonesian Stunting Reduction National Action Plan (RAN PASTI) in Banjarmasin, Monday (March 21, 2022).
He hopes that the Team for the Acceleration of Stunting Reduction (TPPS) to immediately plans an action plan by focusing on stunting pockets in districts and cities in South Kalimantan.
“There are five districts with stunting rates higher than the provincial average, namely Tanah Laut, Balangan, Barito Kuala, Tapin, and Banjar,” he remarked.
Stunting is a serious problem experienced by toddlers in Indonesia and even the world. Based on the 2021 SGBI survey, the prevalence of stunting currently is at 24.4 percent or 5.33 million toddlers.

Meanwhile, BKKBN Main Inspector Ari Dwikora Tono explained that the socialization of RAN PASTI provided a comprehensive explaination to stakeholders regarding mechanism for accelerating stunting reduction at the provincial, district, city, and village levels.
“The current population of Indonesia is dominated by young people who have just started a family and those who are about to start a family. 2025 to 2035 is the peak of the demographic bonus, so we must not careless about the potential for stunting babies to be born. Stunting can be prevented as long as we all converge to solve the problem,” he pointed out.
According to Ari, BKKBN realizes that the role of family is so strategis that it deserves to be called the family as the pillar of state. A healthy, productive, and qulity family will certainly have healthy babies.
