Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The BMKG's Deputy head of the climatology Herizal said the climate field school (SLI) attended by field officers will help farmers in rising of agriculture productivity.
"The SLI helps farmers in the effort of increasing agriculture productivity to reach 35 percent," he said after opening the SLI Agro-climate socialization organized by the Banjarbaru BMKG station, Wednesday.
The SLI participants, who are agriculture field counselors (PPL) and Plant-Pest Controller and Disease Organism Observer, will help farmers in the farming process.

According to Herizal, who was accompanied by the Head of the Banjarbaru BMKG Station Goeroeh Tjiptanto, they have important role in helping farmers to translate information from BMKG.
"By knowing the BMKG's information about climate and weather farmers will know the right time to farm," he pointed out.

But participants, he reminded, do not only know about climate and weather. They also know the effect, thus they can suggest farmers what plants are suitable and when to plant.
"SLI is one of government program supporting in food resilience and economic independent, thereby the capable counselors are chosen for this duty," he said.
Meanwhile, the Banjarbaru BMKG Station Head Goeroeh Tjiptanto said, the SLI was attended by 25 participants, which consisted of PPL and Plant-Pest Controllers and Disease Organism Observers. The came from various places in South Kalimantan to attend the SLI for three days.
