Rantau, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Tapin, South Kalimantan, Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) gave a quick response to more than a hundred residents affected by flood in Parigi Village, Bakarangan Sub-district.
"Floods have reached settlements in two neighborhood units (RT) in Parigi Village," said Head of the BPBD Raniansyah when confirmed in Rantau, Thursday.
BPBD has collected data that there are 56 families or 149 people who have been affected by flooding from the overflowing local river on Thursday morning until now.
"Many houses were inundated, some residents fled to relatives' home and others are still there staying at home," he said.
Currently the flood is showing signs of decreasing with water level ranging from 10 cm to 50 cm.
"If it rain again, the flood is likely to persist," he said.
Another action taken by BPBD was distributing basic food package to residents affected by the flood.
"This is the first flood in Tapin in 2024," he said.
Raniansyah said that the agency's members together with search and rescue (SAR) equipments are being preparedfor flood disasters.
"Based on BMKG's prediction, high rainfall to occur from January to February," he said.
