Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, is planning to build another reservoir in Pulau Laut Timur Sub-district and currently its Detail Engineering Design (DED) is being prepared.
"Insya Allah (God Willing) by the end of year the detailed planning stage will be completed," said Head of Water Resources and Environmental Health of the Kotabaru PUPR Office Hasbiyanta here, Friday.
He said that the project of Seratak reservoir or water intake (IKK) to be proposed in the 2024 revised budget (APBD-P).
"If it is not possible in 2024, it will be proposed in 2025," he said.
Intake Seratak is prepared to serve clean water needs of the sub-districts of Pulau Laut Timur, Pulau Laut Sigam, and Pulau laut utara.

He expounded that Seratak reservoir DED had gone through the feasibility study assessment by Bappeda (the District Board of Development Planning) and the results met the reservoir or IKK intake criteria.
"Three main factors resulting from Seratak River study have feasibility in terms of quality, quantity, and continuity," he said.
However, he said, his sides would still pay attention to the needs of local residents who use Seratak River as a source of irrigation channel for their rice fields.
"This is a long term treatment. Previously, we have handled the short term by constructing an intake in Sebelimbingan Village to reduce the duration of clean water crisis in Kotabaru," he said.
