Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Head of the Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, PUPR Office Suprapti Tri Astuti together with commitment officer (PPK) and supervising consultants checked the sewerage treatment plant (IPLT) works in Sebelimbingan Village, Pulaulaut Utara sub-district, to ensure it runs according to the mechanism.
"The construction progress has reached a digging stage for foundation installation and the completion is targeted to be December 2023," said Suprapti in Kotabaru Wednesday.
With this construction of IPLT, she said, the district government is bringing into reality its commitment to environmental sustainability, which is healthy, proper, especially in densely populated urban areas.
PUPR Office keeps its efforts to improve sanitation as one of the basic services to the public to have an improved clean and quality environment.

IPLT construction which began in August 2023 will works as a domestic sludge processing unit, both from households and public facilities. It is hoped that in 2024, the IPLT will start operation.
Head of Water Resources and Environmental Health of the PUPR Hasbiyanta explained that the IPLT construction includes the construction of sludge separation chamber pond, drying bed area, facultative pond, anaerobic pond, maturation pond, loading dock, and environment fence.
The IPLT in Sebelimbingan Village, which construction is in accordance with regulation, will accomodate fecal waste from the sub-districts of Pulau Laut Utara, Pulau Laut Sigam, and Pulau Laut Tengah.
"(IPLT) will reduce the risk of environmental pollution resulted by fecal waste while creating a clean, healthy, and comfortable city environment," he said.
With the realization of wastewater development and management in the 2023 budget, Kotabaru will be better, more advanced, healthier for both the residents and the environment.
