Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan Youth and Sports Office prepares three alternative places for the opening ceremony of the 2023 National Students Sports Week (Pomnas) scheduled on November 12, 2023.
Head of the office Hermansyah here on Friday said initially the opening was prepared at the Uncle Birin Sport Hall, bu it was difficult to materialize.
"It is estimated that the construction of the Uncle Birin Sport Hall cannot be completely completed according to the Pomnas opening schedule," he said.
Because time was tight, he continued, the provincial goverment then prepared alternative places, namely Rectorate Hall of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) Banjarbaru, Hasanudin HM Sport Hall Banjarmasin, and 17 Mei Stadium Banjarmasin.
Hermansyah said that his sides will soon meet with the South Kalimantan Student Sports Advisory Board (Bapomi) to determine the location for the opening of Pomnas.
According to him, as a sport hall that is a proud of South Kalimantan with national standards, the construction must be perfect as expected.

With the current uncertain weather condition, he said, most of the building materials brought from outside the region by ship are experiencing delays.
All parts of the building frame are assembled outside the region and require delivery time.
The XVIII Pomnas, which is hosted by South Kalimantan government and ULM as co-host, competed for 1,397 medals.
"There are 204 matches from 16 sports," said Chief Executive of the 2023 Pomnas Muhamad Rusmin Nuryadin at the grand launching of the event at ULM Auditorium in Banjarbaru.
Rusmin said contingents from 34 provinces will each bring 362 athletes and officials. Even 24 provinces have confirmed to compete in 16 sports.
"This means that at least 10,000 will come to South Kalimantan and of course it will have a positive impact on increasing people's economy," he said.
