Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry's Director General of Aquaculture TB Haeru Rahayu has visited Kotabaru to see if the district could support the national target to produce 2 million of shrimp.
He said that the National Shrimp Task Force has asked the directorate general to fulfill the target of 2 million shrimp by 2024.
"We want to explore if Kotabaru can support the fulfillment of the target," said Haeru in Kotabaru, as reported on Wednesday.
He said that his visit to Kotabaru was to expound the ministry's program to increase export-based aquaculture, especially shrimp.
"We are taking steps such as making a model by building modern area-based ponds from upstream to downstream, as well as raising traditional pond or revitalization," he said.
Carrying out cultivation anywhere, including in Kotabaru with several approaches such as keep maintaining ecology and also expanding economy.
"Not only the ecology but the economy must also be poked. So it must be balanced," he said.
