Rantau, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - A total of 5,249 students from 29 junior (SMP) and elementary schools (SD) in Tapin District received a free 10GB data package from PT Telkomsel.
PT Telkomsel representative Aditia said each of the students received an internet starter pack from the PT Telkomsel's Merdeka Belajar program.
"We submitted a total of 76 thousand starter packs to schools in 8 districts/cities in South Kalimantan," said Aditia when contacted via Whatsapp, Tuesday (Sept 1,2020).
He added that the 10GB data package can only be used for online learning applications, such as Rumah Belajar, Zoom, Ayo Belajar, and others.
"The card will be active for 30 days, then students only need to buy an Rp5 thousand package to get another 10GB and be active for another 30 days and so on," he concluded.
Head of the Tapin Education Office Hj Ahlul Jannah said she really appreciated the program launched by PT Telkomsel to ease students in Tapin in the distance or online learninng nowadays.
"For Tapin, the 10GB free starter packs have been submitted on August 29 for junior high school level, and August 31 for elementary level," she said in Rantau.

Ahlul hoped that the CSR assistance from PT Telkomsel can ease the burden on parents in providing internet data package in distance learning during the pandemic.
"Those who received this assistance are students from underprivileged families," said Ahlul.
She added, apart from PT Telkomsel, the free data package is planned tobe provided by the Ministry of Education.
"There is also possibility from the Ministry of Education. Later we will inform it," she concluded.
