Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Tabalong Social Affairs Office is targeting 900 families in extreme poor category to be resolved by thickening social assistance.
Head of Tabalong Social Affairs Office Rusmadi said that the social assistance includes family Hope Program (PKH), providing food and house renovation.
"Thickening social assistance, both from local budget (APBD) or state budget (APBN), is expected to expedite eradication of extreme poverty in Tabalong," explained Rusmadi here on Monday (Dec 9, 2024).
Data collection shows that extreme poor residents in "Bumi Saraba Kawa'" (Tabalong's nickname) mostly in the southern region of the district with the largest number in Banua Lawas Sub-district.

Rusmadi expounded that extreme poverty is a condition of residents who are unable to fulfill basic needs, such as food, clean water, health, and shelter.
There are a total 20 thousand families or around 60,000 people recorded in the category of poor in Tabalong.
The Tabalong government has implemented a number of innovations to handle poverty problems, one of which is the Integrated Poverty Reduction Information Systemor what called as Silangkar innovation.
This innovation, which was once a nominee for the Innovative Government Award (IGA) 2024, aims to increase effectiveness and accuracy of poverty reduction program implemented by regional apparatus organization or other related parties.
