Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Kotabaru Regent H Sayed Jafar has just received an award handed over by Indonesian Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Minister Bintang Puspayoga for his commitment to make Kotabaru a child friendly district.
The Regent was represented by Head of the Kotabaru Communication and Informatics Office Gusti Abdul Wakhid to receive the award at the 13th anniversdary of Kompas TV in Jakarta, Wednesday (11/9).
Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian hoped the awards, with various categories, would trigger motivation of regional heads.
Especially for those who take part in the regional head election (pilkada), this award is considered to raise electability.
"Thank you Kompas and congratulations to the regional heads who received the awards. Hopefully this would motivate other regional heads who watched this event," he said.
The award from Kompas TV was a concrete manifestation as well as high commitment of the Kotabaru government as a child friendly region by providing fulfillment of children's rights and protecttion in their respective regions.

Meanwhile, the District Government of Kotabaru until today keeps on taking various measures, making programs and socialization to realize the commitment.
This award cannot be separated from various successes that have been achieved by Kotabaru government under the leadership of Regent H Sayed Jafar, during his 10 years in office.
Such as, Head of the Kotabaru Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning (PPPAPPKB) Office Sri Sulitiyani had taken strategic steps, including socialization to prevent violation against children with Kotabaru Child Protection Ambassador Hj Fatma Idiana going directly to schools.
Kotabaru also formed Women Friendly and Child Care Villages (DRPPA) from 3 villages now became 13 villages in Pulau Laut Sigam Sub-district and Pulau Laut Utara Sub-district.
PATBM (Community Based Integrated Child Protection) was also formed in 39 villages aiming to prevent and handling violence against children in every village. It is an extension of the PPPAPPKB Office through technical implementation units in handlng victims of child abuse.
Also SRA (Child Friendly School) in 17 schools spread across several sub-districts, and making Village Children Forum in several sub-districts, as well as Child Friendly Mosques (MRA) also in several sub-districts.
Kotabaru government also established a Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team (TPPS) whose duty is to oversee health and nutrition intervension programs for children in the district.
Other districts and cities who also received the award were Bandung District, Batu City, Konawe Utara District, Hulu Sungai Tengah District and Lamongan District.
Kotabaru Regent H. Sayed Jafar expressed his gratitude and thanked Kompas TV for awarded him for his high commitment to caring for child friendly district.
"Alhamdulillah, we have once again receive the trust to receive an award, this time from Kompas TV in the category of Child Friendly Region 2024. This is the results of hard work together with all stakeholders, related agencies, and active participation of all people of Kotabaru," he expounded.
