Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - South Kalimantan Police have uncovered a delivery of 49 kilograms drug consisted of crystal methamphetamine, locally known as sabu-sabu, and ecstasy pills of international ring of Malaysia. Four couriers were busted in different places in Banjarmasin and Banjarbaru.
"A total of 45 kg sabu-sabu and 11 thousand ecstasy pills weighed about 4,382,21 grams and in the form of fractions or powder with a net weight of 30.56 grams," said South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Insp. Gen. Andi Rian R Djajadi in Banjarmasin, Tuesday.
In the first disclosure on Monday (Dec 26, 2022) two suspect, AR (41) and AS (37), residents of Tanah Bumbu District, were busted a hotel in Banjarmasin.
Both were caught red-handed with evidence of 20 packages of sabu-sabu weighing 20,900 grams packed in Chinese tea packs.
Then the team led by Director of Drug Investigation Sr Comr Tri Wahyudi and Head of Subdirectorate 1 AKBP Meilki Bharata made a network development until it was detected that large quantities of drug would enter South Kalimantan.
Two days later, on Wednesday (Dec 28, 2022), the team caught two other suspects, RS (35) and JM (33), in a hotel room near the airport in Banjarbaru.
At this scene, 24 Chinese tea packs containing a total of 25,175 grams or about 25 kg of sabu-sabu confiscated.
Manhunt then continued. Searhing of RS's house on Jalan Kasturi 2, Banjarbaru, resulted 11,792 ecstasy pills with a net weight of 4,382,21 grams and shard of Gucci logo weighing 30.56 grams found.
Police chief appreciated the disclosure and ordered it to be developed in order to be able to dismantle a larger network.
"This time we detected the network from Malaysia, entered North Sumatra, then East Java, and finally to South Kalimantan was arrested," explained the two-star general.
The Police chief, who was accompanied by Deputy Police Chief Brig. Gen. Rosyanto Yudha Hermawan, admitted that he was grateful for the failure circulation of a large quantities of drug. It means the Directorate of Drug Investigation (Ditresnarkoba) of South Kalimantan Police have succeeded in saving 45,055 lives from drug abuse by an estimate per gram meth can be used by 10 people and one ecstasy pil for 1 person.
The expose of case as well as destroying evidence of confiscated drug was attended by Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor and the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (forkopimda) who congratulated the performance of the provincial police.
"You can imagine what if this drug anathema circulates. It destroys the nation's generation in South Kalimantan," he said.
The governor, who is popularly called Uncle Birin, called all parties to play role in drug prevention efforts.
"The duty of fighting drugs cannot just be assigned to the government, in this case the National Police and BNN, but it is our joint obligation, especially in the aspect of prevention to kill the market," he said.
