Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo affirmed that Indonesia should have a grand strategy to become strong and independent amid a volatile global situation.
"The world that we are facing now is not one that is in an ordinary situation. For that reason, we need to have a big strategy by using the power we possess to become stronger and independent," the head of state noted during a speech at the National Public Procurement Agency on Tuesday.
One example strategy that he highlighted is to increase the use and spending of domestic products.
Widodo noted that the use and consumption of domestic products will open up employment opportunities while concomitantly reviving small industries in the country. Hence, the national economy will continue to move and grow sustainably.
Reports from the LKPP showed that the use of domestic products had reached Rp547 trillion, or 44.9 percent, which indicate satisfactory achievement where spending on domestic products had increased.

However, he stated that the figure should be higher in 2023.
On the other hand, the use of imported products should be reduced and eliminated, and to this end, Jokowi called for breakthrough efforts to be made to increase the use of domestic products.
"I remind you that increasing the target for the use of domestic products must be balanced with efforts to improve the ecosystem in order to be able to meet the demands of domestic needs," he stated.
The president called for major improvements from the upstream to downstream by increasing domestic products having domestic component level certificates (TKDN) in order to ensure that their quality would increase.

He also called for the certification process for micro, small, and cooperative products to be made easier.
Acceleration of the digitization process aims to increase the absorption of domestic products and micro needs to also be enhanced.
Additionally, he touched on the implementation of the government or regional government credit cards.
Lastly, he stressed on the importance of increasing research to produce substitutes for imported products and provide incentives for investors and industries that develop and produce import substitute products.
