Pelaihari, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Regent of Tanah Laut HM Sukamta said that erratic weather condition should be watched out for the potential of malaria.
“Don't slowdown in the midst of the current weather which is difficult to predict. Beware of the potential for the sudden emergence of malaria," said HM Sukamta when opening the Malaria Cross-Sectoral Meeting in the context of the 2022 Malaria Elimination Maintenance Phase in Pelaihari, Wednesday (May 11, 2022).
He expected that the environmental health officers in every community health center (puskesmas) to keep on observing and monitor any changes or events, in order that a very good situation is well maintained.
The regent also hopes that all relevant parties to continue to implement early detection of malaria symptoms and keeping on to make prevention efforts.
"We hope that puskesmas will continue to carry out observation and early detection of condition that have potential to cause malaria," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of Disease Control and Prevention of the Tanah Laut Health Agency Antonius Jaka said in 2018 the agency found 98 cases of malaria, then in 2021 there were only 37 cases without transmission.
On that occision a joint commitment was signed to support and maintain the elimination or free of malaria in the Tanah Laut District.
The signing was carried out by Regent HM Sukamta, Assistant for Economic, Development, and People's Welfare, related agencies, Director H Boejasin District Hospital, and Chairman of Indonesian Doctor Association (IDI) of Tanah Laut.
