Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, Library and Archive Office (Dispersip) held storytelling program for kindergarten children to foster children's interest in reading from early age.
"This program is one of education to foster reading interest for kinderarten children," said storytelling resource person Satiawati in Kotabaru, Wednesday.
Various educational stories, such as Nusantara folklores, animal stories and moral stories are packaged in an interesting and interactive way.
The activity is held in turns in several kindergartens in Kotabaru beginning April 2025. The aim is to build reading habits from early age and introduce children to the world of literacy in a fun way.
“We want children to love books from early age. Through storytelling thjey can learn while playing and at the same time intill positive values,” she explained.
Teachers and parents gave a positive response to this activity. They hope activities like this can be held routinely and reach more schools.
Storytelling is also part of regional literacy program initiated by the Dispersip to support the national literacy movement.
