"Alhamdulilah as of February 8, 2022, Banjarbaru ranks first in vaccination from 13 districts and cities in South Kalimantan both for child and the public vaccination," said Banjarbaru Police Chief AKBP Nur Khamid, Wednesday.
Based on data from the Ministry of Health, the first dose of vaccination for children 6-11 years reached 71.89 percent and the second dose was 1.28 percent with a target of 26,984.
As for those aged 12 years and above or the public it recorded 84.42 percent for the first dose and 72.32 percent for the second dose with a taget of 195,115 people.
Meanwhile, at the provincial level the public vaccination coverage was 78.27 percent for the first dose and 46.49 percent for the second dose. Nationally the achievement of the first dose was 81.75 percent and 61.30 percent for the second dose.
"Our coverage for elderly is also good at 64.53 percent of the first dose and 54.96 percent of the second dose. Insya Allah (God Willing) with hard work and cohesiveness of forkopimda by the end of February we can achieve 70 percent," said Khamid.
According to him, the achievement of vaccination according to the government's target is thank to innovation and breakthroughs are made so far. These included a pick-up system from house to house in vaccination service, and raid system or checking residents when passing on the roads.
In the midst of good vaccination achievement, Khamid reminded the public to stay disciplined in health protocols, especially after the spread of the Omicron variant which trigger spike in COVID-19 cases.
