Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin Airport in Banjarbaru city, South Kalimantan, has recorded 17,911 passengers passed through the airport a week ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri.
"The number of passengers was recorded in the last two days there was an increase in homecoming (mudik) flow," said Iwan Risdianto, Stakeholder Relation Department Head of Syamsudin Noor Airport here on Sunday.
Iwan said that the surge in passenggers began to be seen on Friday (21/3) with 9,130 pasengers transported by 85 flights.

Then on saturday (22/3), there were 8,781 passengers from 80 flights.
"Sunday;s data cannot be published today because because we are waiting until the end of airport operation tonight," he expounded.
However, Iwan said that the situation this weekend has begun to show a clear surge.
To anticipate the high surge, his party continues to coordinate with airlines for extra flights plans, especially to Jakarta and Surabaya, which are the most popular destinations.
