Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor rewarded athletes, coaches, and assistant coaches with cash bonuses for their achievement of winning medals at the XX PON and XVI Peparnas in Papua 2021.
Governor Sahbirin Noor said the reward was of the provincial government's attentiveness to them for being the proud and brought the good name of the province.
The bonus amount for the National Sports Week (PON) and the National Paralympic Games (Peparnas) gold medalists is IDR300 million for individuals and IDR350 million for teams.
The governor hopes that the bonuses provided will enhance the athletes spirit to continue to excel in sporting events, both at national and international levels.
The condition is, he said, keep moving, keep practicing, then you will improve in the upcoming competitions.
"If you now win four golds, in the next games you will get 8 gold medals, today 41 gold the next is 82. Now you win silver, next you grab gold," he said in Kiram Park, Banjar District, Monday.
Head of South Kalimantan Youth and Sport Agency Hermansyah said the governor appreciated the athletes' struggle, so he increased the amount of bonuses compared to the previous PON and Peparnas in West Java.
"This is an appreciation from the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan, especialy the Governor who wanted this bonus to have a positive effect on the progress of sports in South Kalimantan," he said.
